a day late..... I thought it was gone but I found it, thanks deedee

Hello, hello Happy March

Can you believe it? Feburary went by pretty quickly. I've had a bit of change this month, I've just finalized the end of my employment in the meat freezer, and am quite comfortable in my new (again) employment working with a very dear friend in her home and in her ministry. I HEART HAITI!

Today I did some running around, spent too much money but I got some needed things. like nearly industrial sized baking soda's and a large apple cider vinegar... in past blogs I mentioned using baking soda in place of shampoo. I did, I hated it! ... but I didn't have any of the vinegar to rinse with.. and I neglected to use any sort of conditioner, which I don't live without. soo it was interesting to say the least, very stringy and needless to say when I returned from being out and about for most of the day I was very surprised to find my hair STILL wet.. well damp anyways especially at the roots. It weirded me out. Hence the large apple cider vinegar. haha. Which I have to add is getting close to devine in the combination, my hair has never been soo soft, I just want to rub my hands in my hair all day long.. or even better someone else can do it for me. :)

I've been sickish lately... I blame new job entirely, a house full of kids, the little ones with colds. ah well, I'll live. But I still managed to make a feast a la ayiti! I cooked a Haitian meal for my sister and her partner. mmmMmmm was it ever tasty! Talapia with Creole sauce, manyork with onions and lemon juice (also known as cassava and yucca root) Beets a la moi, and twice fried plantains! soo much leftovers. It's a good job I am going to do a repeat dinner with minor variation for two of my best gals tomorrow. with rice and beans in place of the manyork and a non spicey version of the creole sauce for the kids, I'll be adding garlic shrimp and the dessert E and I had at our wedding, gelato with palmiers SOO GOOD! can't wait!

.... Have I mentioned I love Haiti?

my family there would be proud... probably make a mockery of my haitian attempts as usual but I'm not going to let that stop me.

Speaking of Haitian family I should go and phone E before its midnight there... It's incredibly hard being apart for the first year of our marriage, but I think since our friend came back from Haiti the pang of separation has been intensified. :(

there are some plans in the making of me going there in the summer with said friend and starting a rescue house for children who have a hard time getting it, like the babies who are abandoned at the hospital, currently they have a roof over there heads but thats all thats going for them, no food, no love, no good. So we are going to do our part to give these kids a chance.

I bought some english/haitian creole kids books, I can't wait until they arrive; they will be a great addition to my international childrens library... of which I have like 5 books. *grin

ok off I go to call E.

So today has had an interesting start. I washed my hair with baking soda, I had a complete stranger walk in while I was doing laundry in my pj's (home alone I might add), I ate a wholesome breakfast and exfoliated the hair off my lip while wearing extremely highwaisted jeans... Ain't it great to be a woman. To top it off I was scolded by dear mother as to why she doesn't have grand-babies yet and could she bribe someone to bring E here asap. Indeed, there is nothing like trying to be a lovely lady.

As I peel the black head strip from my nose I am pondering the changes of the new season and how there are so many changes for my life at the same time, I can't believe it is still winter, I am soo ready for change, job, residence, country maybe.. who knows what this year holds. I know I am more curious than is healthy but I can't help but try to picture how its all going to play out even though I am quite certain its not going to be perfect and strangers will walk in uninvited to shatter my bubble. Perhaps that is where perfection lies, accepting life as it is, and just doing the best one can. At the very least I am aiming for a infinatly more positive year than the last one. Its gonna be a gooder I can feel it. perfects over-rated anyhow.

Today is a beautiful day, no rain. :) I know I haven't written for a very long time, and while I still read my fav blogs.. I haven't felt I have had anything worth typing, I have been rather blue of late
...kinda like this pic of my respite baby.
but I am being well taken care of by my doctor and I am I bound and determined to pick up my feet and get some things accomplished. Paperwork - wise I cannot do anything more and its making me ansy. so I am in process of tackling my room aka disaster zone. I have a fair bit of floor space at the moment which is lovely, but I am lacking in dressers so my clothes live in the hamper... I need a solution to this. I took plenty of before pics for ya but I am waiting to load them once I get some after shots (whenever that may be). I enjoy being productive, having a plan and completing or exceeding it.
I have a few employment options popping up, so I need to talk to E and see which course of action would be the wisest. let me lay it out for you and you can tell me what you think. 1. Apply for a position for dispatch at the local police detachment. This would mean more income, more security, and a daily challenge of self, which I think can be a good thing. 2. Stay where I am and ignore the shinnanigans that are out to capture my soul, at least until E comes and then I can start fostering. 2a. OOOR Stay where I am until summer where I have been asks to maintain a household for a friend of mine for the length of the summer and care for the 5 children who would not be able to go with the rest of the family on a trip to haiti. This would mean a house outside of my parents home for me and E (providing he is here at that time), income, and no doubt the kids will keep me busy and entertained. My dilema is this, at the moment they are not certain that they are going at all... and it will be probably a few solid months until there is any guarantee. That means giving up the oppourtunity to work dispatch, which I have forgone in the past. So that is that.
I really need to get out of this house, I need my own home for my own family. I have been very "nesty" lately and I can't do much about it. Its really making me crazy.
I have started keeping better tabs on my finances, and figuring out what is going where and how much is left over and if any what can go to housing. thats my motivation. For now my focus is repaying the debt that has been accumulated and more or less ignored. that needs to be dealt with immediatly... maybe I should give Gail a call... If she's been to Surrey... why wouldn't she come here. haha.
Well, I need to find some substanence, which is also a current focus of mine, my health. hooo lordy!
ok I'm going to check the mailbox, finers crossed for GST cheque!

Happy November!

I'll start with a quick October review. Overall not a huge success, I definitely haven't moved ahead at all other than getting closer to sending the paperwork in. A major setback has been my injuries and having my doctor say that the most recent pain is my lungs and as she thinks its unrelated to my work injury I cannot get compensated for a whole week of missed work... PS it is my ribs not my lungs and it all started when I got injured so I can't understand how its not related (not that I'm bitter, sheesh!) Hallows Eve was nice and quiet, a few neighbour kids came by but there was a lot less than last year because of the rainy weather. One thing I have definitely missed this past month is keeping in touch with my friends. which I'm not so great at in the best of times, I could come up with a bunch of excuses but really all I mean is that I am going to try to do better this month. I am glad that October is done, birthday's are gone and there is another year to take on. There has been a good side to October as well, (I don't want to focus on the negatives); My application was accepted for a full time position at work! along with that I had to fill out all the mandatory pension plan and medical info, but they also gave several options for investing in different areas. I have never invested before but it has always intrigued me. I read the whole book that they gave me to review and decided that even though I am in the middle of a learning curve on how to manage my finances and have bundles of debt to get rid of, I also know that I am young and after E gets here and starts working things won't be such a huge challenge for me. So I am officially an investor! I am putting a portion of my bi-weekly pay cheques into various areas, including equities which makes me very proud that I am not too scared to invest in the riskiest of all investments. I don't think I could get much smaller in the amount I am investing but I just want to get my feet wet and see how I like it, if I understand whats going on when things change and how much I learn about the whole deal. To be honest it kind of feels like a real-life monopoly game, mostly because I don't know anything about investing but I am very curious to see where this takes me. Which leads me to a few goals for November. "I must, I must, I must increase my bust!" Ha ha, A quote from are you there God, its me Margret. My bust is fine by the way. A definite must for this month is getting E's paperwork send in... I'm starting to go crazy with all the worry and paranoia that goes with it. I also need to be more conscious about how I use and take care of my body. I need to be more active, and drink more water. I am in belly dancing for a second semester and I absolutely adore it. but we will be finished at the beginning of December. I am a little worried that with the icky weather I'm going to become a hermit and not do anything. I like rain I just need some waterproof shoes so I can stop using that as an excuse for not taking the dogs for a walk. One last goal that I have on my list is to be diligent on my Christmas crafts, because I have decided to make most of my gifts this year I need to start early or they will never get done. I am famous for starting a million projects and not finishing any of them... I think that falls under the procrastination I warned you about. Alright my one loyal reader :) I am going to make some breakfast. have a good one!
